trial run

run? did someone say run?.....I DON'T run, not even if I was being chased by a crazed ax murderer...I would most definitely weigh all my options before I hauled trunk outta there!

last night I had Kyle try on everything for a last minute check to make sure everything was
"a go".....and let me just state for the record....

......when I saw my little Bubba all decked out in that suit, crisp white shirt and snazzy red tie, I couldn't help but grab him in my arms and squeeze him tight(all while smothering his cheek with kisses).......

....only to get a "Mawwwwww, your gonna wrinkle it!"

I would post some pictures, but I will leave you in suspense and post them Friday night...pink promise!

I spent all off last night getting all my contacts added and downloading all those cool apps....but I still have so many questions and things to try and figure out...whew...it's alot for this Non-techie gal to comprehend!

How do I friend someone from this phone on face book from a Droid phone???(I apologize upfront to those of you have sent me a friend request...I'm tryin ya'll,bare with me...mkay)

things I've found in my dryer

Being a mother of a boy, my washer & dryer take a real beating sometimes. Not only do they wash off halacious amounts of mud and "creek stank" Kyle & Chris both love to be outdoors and always feel the need to bring some of it back home with them when they return...thanks boys!


I have no pictures for this post but trust me when I say "just use your imagination on the is one". In Kyles mere 13 & 1/2 years I have washed & dried all sorts of fun & neat things such as.........


fishing lures complete with hooks and metal weights

rubber fishing worms

rocks

sunflower seeds(still in the shell) did you know they bust out of the shell when they get all wet???? YEP....sure do!

a can of dip(wintergreen I might add...it was Chris's...I HOPE!)

this gals is the new Droid Eris...lets call him Hahn's shall we????? lets!...and Hahn's is my new bff...okay he will be once he comes in the mail today and I learn how to turn him on & download apps and all that other cool stuff......I am so excited!!!

whats in a name?

have you ever thought about it? Pondered it? Named your child a certain name just because of the meaning?

Nope not me! I picked Kyles name because I liked the way it sounded ....well, really I picked Kyle but then we could come up with a middle name we liked that went with Kyle, so we bumped Kyle to the middle and then Chris picked out the first name Christian to go with it.

.....so Christian Kyle was chosen....

....whatdaya think?
......I love the way it sounds(however as Kyle got older it took a lot of convincing to get him to understand that his real name was Christian!)

But this post is not really about given names, but about nicknames. If you have been a loyal reader or follower of my blog you now by know that my crazy son has a nickname.....do you remember what it is?????hmmmmmmm??????

It's Bubba
That's right ....ya know, like the big ole' red neck boy that lives on a farm down the dirt road kinda Bubba!

To be be honest I don't know how it came to be, but I have called him Bubba since the day he was born. After a few weeks of me calling him bubba it began to stick and soon the hubs started to call him that too....then his grandparents...then, when I put him in an in home daycare, that lady began to call him bubba too.

Now it is just a habit, and one that I am trying hard to get away from(since he will be starting high school in the fall) and it's not going to be too cool for your mom to call you bubba, which by the way I have been known to yell loudly from the bleachers at any given ballgame! (watch that ball bubba, hustle up bubba, get a hit now bubba...and sometimes I have even heard mothers of some of the other boys on the team cheer loudly for him and call him bubba too)

But you know what the funniest part of all this is????? When you call him by his nickname....he will answer you every time!

So, did you give your child a nickname? Was it a planned name or just happened? Did you have a nickname as a child?

thank goodness it is Thursday and the weekend is almost here. I really don't have anything major to post today. We have stayed pretty busy on the ball field and I am trying to pull together the last minute detail on the Kyles Spring Social. for next Friday night.......we still lack one red tie ( i hope to knock that out this weekend)

If you remember, the break down on the prices for the social we could have spent around $250.00 (with tux rental & getting a stretch Hummer) but here is the run down so far.

New Black suit $30.00
Tickets $16.00
Wrist corsage $10.00
Shoes $0 (gonna wear his dads)
Pictures $0 (gonna take them myself at a near by park before the dance)
Dinner @ $20.00 (the kids want to go the local pizza joint here in town)
Ride $0 (one of the grandmothers is letting them use her white Escalade)

This $76.00 total is much better...no?!?

It's my BLOGVERSARY!!!!

Today is my 1year Blogversary!!! When I started this blog one year ago I did it just for fun. I never imagined that I would have met so many new friends all across the US just by doing this......WOW...and not to mention win a few Awesome giveaways too!
I just want to say THANK YOU to each one of you for putting up with me over this past year...I know some of my post have been long and just ramblings with a bit of Kyle humor thrown in for kicks & giggles.
So I raise my glass and toast to you ladies...

The other night I was downloading all the pictures from my camera and came across these pictures that Kyle had downloaded from his Pixflix thing(Christmas gift). I swear he has file after file of pictures

And there you have it, the world through Kyles eyes. Trust me, I know how simple this must seem, but that is how Kyle is. Nothing is complex in his world. Everyday just consist of mud, dirt, lights & sirens...it always has, and it always will.

Tuesday Kyle was inducted in the National Junior Honor Society, for those of you with a clue, this is a HUGE deal! You have to be nominated by your teacher and your school and it is not only based on your grades but good citizenship and community involvement. Kyle was on of the five 8th graders enducted!!!!...{{Super proud momma moment!}}

off to live another day

I forgot share this story with all of you last week. Last week while Kyle was off for Spring Break(and staying home by his self during the day) he decided he would go down to the creek. This is a very common thing for Kyle. I swear the child would sleep in his tent on the creek bank every night if we would let him! Kyle and Chevy love to be down at the creek in the mud, digging and seeing other animals and splashing around and playing in the mud, skipping rocks and playing in the mud...oh, did I already mention the mud? Sorry, just had to get that point across. I am seriously thinking about installing an outdoor shower because most days he is too muddy to even walk through the house to use his shower!

Anyway I get a call from Kyle that went something like this.

Kyle "Hey mom Chevy & me are down at the creek digging another creek (yea, follow me here, mmkay!) and all the sudden I heard a bull frog....and when I turned around there was a HUGE snake, bout 4 feet long (moms heart then stops) and he had that bull frog in his mouth and he was just a hollerin'....so I went over and chopped the snakes head off and he let go of the frog and hopped back into the woods to live another day.

Mom "kyle you have got to be careful down there! There are snakes everywhere! Your Daddy told you to be on the look out for them."

Kyle" I was...I heard the frog!"

Mom "what in the world did you cut the snakes head off with?"

Kyle "duh...the shovel...what else did you think I was using to dig a new creek with!"
(I could tell he was rolling his eyes just like his daddy by hearing the tone in his voice)

........uh....stupid me!

Back in the swing of it

Boy, this morning was tuff! I have SO enjoyed the past week with Kyle on Spring Break. It was wonderful to have a leisurely morning to get ready, iron clothes and make coffee and head out the door ahead of schedule....and leave Bubba fast asleep in bed....ahhhhhh...pure bliss.

Well NOT this morning...it was back to another crazy morning in the Owens household. Drag Kyle out of bed by his toes, make breakfast, make lunches (for him & me) make coffee, dose out med's(allergy and ADD/ADHD) iron shirts, find gym clothes, dig around in Kyles book bag only to find the letter from school that says the National Junior Honor Ceremony is tomorrow...and then to top it off Kyle decides he needs to pull a tooth this morning!!!! What's up with that? I thought he was done loosing teeth( I think I may have to Goggle that and check) other wise he just pulled an adult tooth and that adds one more to the list of 4 teeth we are already short...GOOD GRIEF!!!!

So really I think Spring Break SUCKS! By the time I get back in the swing of things and into my routine again school will be over...I think they should just call it quits and end the school year now......any takers????

Summer Must have's

Since it has already hit the 90's here in North Carolina, I thought I would share with you some of my ultimate summer must haves. If you are an avid reader/stalker you already know how much time my boys & I spent at the beach and out on our boat. So here are some items I never leave at home.

This baby right here is Nutri- Vitamin Spray from Aloette. It is made for 100% pure pharmaceutical grade aloe. I use it after tanning or boating and it is the best thing EVER invented for sunburn(it is also great when you put in on after shaving to reduce redness and razor burn)

I love my(or should I say Kyles) IPOD. We have over 1000 songs downloaded and it goes everywhere with us.....we are a family that loves our music (country, big hair bands and all the old school mixes too)

I love my Chapstick w/ SPF. Chris always puts at least one tube in my stocking every year at Christmas and it will last me until the next Christmas. Nobody wants burned lips!!!!

This is another MUST have. I started using this product last summer. It is Avon's Skin-So-Soft body gel. You can use it after you shower and it doubles as your moisturizer and bug repellent all-in-one(since we do live here in the South and raise mosquito's big enough to tote a small child off into the night!!!!) It also has a very soft wonderful scent!

I LOVE all of the body mist by Victoria Secret but this is my FAV! It is called Sexy Little Things. I usually switch to the body sprays in the summer because they are lighter and not as heavy smelling as perfume.

And last but not least...and definitely not forgotten...my flops!!!! Not only flops, but Rainbows flip flops. Never leave home without them!!!!! The match everything(even cute summer dresses and skirts paired with a short jean jacket) I have to say that flops and purses are my #1 fetish. I hate for my feat to be covered....it drives my INSANE! I hate socks and slippers...my feet gotta breath, so as soon as the temps rise above 50 my toesy's come out!

I guess less spankings...I know I deserved them but man they hurt my feelings and my butt too!

That would be Kyle, hands down! That boy cracks me up everyday. You never know what is going to come out of his mouth.

Nope, never do!

8. What is the first thing you thought about this morning?
What the heck is that beeping noise.....oh, it's the alarm clock!

9. Grilled or Fried?
Depending on what it is. The hubs grilled steak is the bomb and I love fried chicken too.

Nope, I love for the room to be pitch black when I sleep and have passed this trait onto Kyle.

11. When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up.
I wanted to be a jockey or a Veterinarian(when you grow up in KY everyone wants to be a jockey)

strong willed(oops that's two)

April Fools on ME!

I think the people at McDonald's decided to make me a part of their April Fool's joke this morning. I stopped off to get an oh so yummy Mocha this morning and when I went to take the first sip, the Mocha spilled all over me, the seat and the console.....and it was HOT! And When I say spilled, I mean spilled! I just assumed the lid was not pushed down tight, so I pulled off and grabbed up all the napkins I had stashed in the glove box and went to cleaning up the mess...and ME!

Once I took my hand sanitizer and napkin "bird bath" I went to take another sip before pulling back out onto the highway.....and dagnabit.....it did it AGAIN! It poured out ALL over me!!! At this point I want to flip down the mirror to see if I have a huge hole in my lip that I may have not have noticed this morning...nope, no hole...so what gives!!!!

So, I decide to take off the lid and assess the situation. There it was.......a huge hunk had been ripped away from the top of my cup then lined up oh so perfectly with the part on the lid where the coffee comes out......VERY interesting!

Coincidence???? I think not!
